Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Which specific Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) are supported?
Freestyle Libre 2, Freestyle Libre 2 Plus, Freestyle Libre 3, Freestyle Libre 3 Plus (via LibreLinkUp)
Dexcom G6, Dexcom G7 (via Dexcom Share)
Which smartwatches are supported?
Apple Watches – All models with watchOS support (watchOS 11 or newer required for Live Activity SmartStack CGM display)
Wear OS watches – Samsung Galaxy Watches and other Wear OS 4/5 devices
Garmin watches (via third-party apps that use a Nightscout-compatible URL which we create for you)
Does GotCGM™ replace the CGM app on my phone?
No, GotCGM™ does not connect to or control your CGM in any way. We just pull the data from the cloud services (Dexcom Share or LibreLinkUp). You still need the 1st-party CGM app to start your sensors and view your CGM readings.
How often does my watch update with new glucose readings?
Apple Watch complications can receive up to 60 real-time updates per hour when new glucose readings are available from your CGM.
Wear OS tiles and complications update whenever new data arrives from Dexcom or Libre.
Dexcom G6 | G7 CGM readings are only uploaded every 5 minutes, while Freestyle Libre readings may update as often as every minute (our partner may reduce that and GotCGM tends to read CGM values less frequently when blood sugar is in range in order to save battery life of your phone and watch).
Can I see my glucose on my iPhone Lock Screen or Dynamic Island?
Yes! GotCGM™ supports iOS Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities, and Dynamic Island (on iPhone 15 and newer). You can see your current glucose, trend arrow, and time since last reading right on your lock screen.
Is GotCGM a freemium app?
No, GotCGM has a three day free trial where you can make sure the features you care about work with your watch and that the app meets your needs, but then all of the basic functionality of the app is available only via the paid subscription (annual or monthly). You might choose to instead use Gluroo, our comprehensive diabetes management app; Gluroo is still available free during its testing phase.
Does GotCGM work with Android widgets?
Yes, GotCGM™ provides Android home screen widgets that display your glucose readings. You can also see your data in Android Auto via calendar events.
Will GotCGM write my CGM values into Apple Healthkit (AHK)?
Yes, GotCGM finally does have this often requested feature and we’re including it as an optional and experimental feature at no additional cost with paid GotCGM subscriptions. GotCGM may remove this feature at any time without prior notice due to partner considerations or for any reason, and you must acknowledge that limitation in the app when you turn on the writing of CGM values to AHK.
At present this functionality does not write into Google Health Connect on Android Phones (please write help@gotcgm.com if that’s something you’d like to see).
What’s the difference between GotCGM and Gluroo?
GotCGM is brought to you by the same company that created Gluroo, and we label GotCGM as “Powered by Gluroo” because the two apps share the same backend service and functionality.
GotCGM is a much simpler, more focused app that is the simplest CGM companion app we could design: it enables seeing real-time CGM values on the various “surfaces” that make it super convenient to discreetly check on your blood sugar such as your watch, your phone’s home or lock screen, your car’s screen, and more.
GotCGM does not contain any of the logging functionality of Gluroo and is not a comprehensive diabetes management app like Gluroo is. If you are using insulin, logging meals, tracking exercise, managing your supplies, seeking medicine or basal insulin reminders, coordinating care for a primary patient, interested in deeper analytics or sharing your CGM data, you should consider using Gluroo instead. See https://gluroo.com for more information about the Gluroo Diabetes Logger
Can I log food and exercise with GotCGM?
No. GotCGM is a focused app with a very specific purpose of enabling seeing your Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) real-time values in all the places you might want to discreetly look to let you stay aware of your blood sugar throughout the day and night.
If you are looking for a more comprehensive health logger or diabetes companion app, try our flagship app Gluroo which available for testing and is being used by ~200,000 people. It is available worldwide.
Why is GotCGM not available in my country?
GotCGM’s initial launch is only in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. We hope and expect to make it available in other countries over the coming months as we more carefully review the translations and ensure compliance with other countries’ regulatory, privacy, and data storage requirements.
If you are interested in the features of GotCGM, note that our flagship app Gluroo is available worldwide for testing, and has most of the features of GotCGM.
Do I need a separate Gluroo account to use GotCGM?
No. If you are new to GotCGM, you’ll get a GotCGM account when you sign in to GotCGM. If you’ve used Gluroo before and have a Gluroo account, you can sign in to GotCGM using that account without separately needing to set up GotCGM anew.
Importantly, if you request deletion or removal of your Gluroo account that you also use with GotCGM, you will also no longer have access to GotCGM, and vice-versa.
You may also use the two services separately using different Google accounts or (if you use an iOS device) using Apple Sign-In for one app and Google sign-in for the other. Those accounts will not be related at all and can be managed independently.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You manage your paid subscription to GotCGM using the platform-specific instructions. See Apple’s instructions for iOS and Google’s instructions for Android.
